
Dujiangyan is located on the Min River in the western part of Chengdu, situated between the Sichuan Basin and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It is a large-scale water conservancy project built during the Warring States period by Li Bing, the governor of Shu Commandery under the Qin state, and his son. The project has undergone modifications and expansions during the Tang, Song, Yuan, and Ming dynasties.
